I took my first trip to Kenya 17 years ago. Since then, the course of my life has been fueled by the absolute determination to make a positive difference in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children. It hasn’t been easy. There have been times when I wanted to walk away. In those difficult moments, I would remember the reasons why this work matters.
I remembered the children who have found refuge in our community. Cousins Jecinta and Mary who watched their families be murdered. Elias who was found alone in the streets at 3 years old. Steven and Regina, who at 4 and 5 years old struggled to survive after being abandoned.
I remembered the children who were hungry, but now always have enough food to eat. I remembered the children who couldn’t afford to attend school, but now are completing secondary school and going on to college.
I remembered the over 450 faces of the children who have received care and education through our community in Kenya. It is for them that I will never give up, and it is for them that I ask you to donate on this Giving Tuesday.
I know there are so many worthy causes you can support throughout this giving season, but I humbly ask you to give to HEAL. Your support will help to change the lives of the vulnerable children in our care. Please give as generously as you are able, and together we will shine brighter for years to come.
With gratitude,
